Destination DC – The Arts District
We partnered with Destination DC, Washington DC’s official tourism organization, to produce this series of 5 profiles on DC-based artists and creatives. In additional to the full-length videos, we created 6 social media cut downs along with a 45 second trailer that was used to tease the series leading up to its release.
Largely, people only think of DC as the home of politics, the White House and museum exhibits you might see on a 5th grade field trip. But as DC-based creators ourselves, we know there is a vibrant community of artists all around the city, and we wanted other people to see that as well.
The goal of the series is to get people thinking about DC as an undiscovered creative city. We knew the best way to do that would be to find real people who personified this passion for DC through their lives and work. By looking at DC through their eyes, we could uncover a deeper, more unique story, that would resonate with our audience.
Distribution and Outcome:
The series ran as sponsored content in partnership with VOX.com in target markets: Chicago, NY, and LA. The series also ran as a social media campaign in DC and gathered over 150k hits in its first week. Combined with the Vox partnership, this series will see well over 1 million views.
For us this project really hit home. We made a conscious decision to keep our home base within the beltway and we’re excited so be able to share the DC we love with so many other people.
